IT–Business Strategic Alignment: A Contemporary Theoretical Overview
Abstract

IT–Business Strategic Alignment (IBSA) refers to the degree to which an organization’s information technology strategy supports, shapes, and drives its business strategy. Over the past three decades, alignment has evolved from a technical concern to a core enabler of organizational competitiveness. In the contemporary environment—characterized by digital transformation, AI-driven operations, cloud ecosystems, and rapidly changing markets—strategic alignment is no longer a one-time effort but a continuous organizational capability.
