The global growth of digital infrastructures has increased energy consumption and led to significant environmental impacts. Organizations are now realizing the need for Sustainable IT (SIT) and Green Information Systems (Green IS) as essential components of corporate sustainability. This paper examines the strategic foundations, governance structures, and multi-dimensional benefits of implementing Green IS frameworks. We propose a holistic conceptual model integrating energy-efficient technologies, green software engineering, circular IT asset management, sustainable cloud architecture, and eco-governance mechanisms. Using socio-technical sustainability theory, the study demonstrates how organizations can align environmental responsibility with business performance. The paper contributes a comprehensive framework and strategic roadmap for businesses transitioning toward sustainable digital operations.
